Professional Learning Communities

We love to gather together with teachers to learn, problem-solve and celebrate. Read a few descriptions below of ways we might facilitate a PLC for you!

Local Learning Communities

Since 2015 we have facilitated an annual Professional Learning Community for educators local to the Upper Valley (VT/NH). In eight sessions held throughout the school year we work through a variety of topics to support the development of frequent and immersive outdoor experiences for students preK-6th grade. Over fifty alumni teach in 18 public schools, sustaining Forest Day programming since our inaugural PLC course in 2015.

Our PLC meetings always begin outside with active lessons, games, songs and projects. We always share a meal, as well as photos and stories from everyone’s work with children. Meg and I share best practices in wild-space infrastructure, benefit-risk analysis, routines, documentation, approaches to cold weather, and customized topics in response to group interest.

Participants can receive PD hours, or, with a little extra work, one graduate credit is available through Antioch University New England.

We will begin enrolling the Fall 2021 Upper Valley co-hort in May, 2021.

By the way, we don’t send a lot of emails…to be honest, it’s much more likely that you never hear from us, than that you hear from us too much. Your email address is safe with us!

If you are interested in the 2021 Upper Valley (VT/NH) Outdoor Play and Learning PLC, send us your email with this form and we'll get in touch when we begin enrollment. Also, let us know where you work/volunteer. Thanks!
If you are interested in joining a virtual PLC, let us know with this form. We'll be in touch if the opportunity arises!

Virtual Learning Communities

In response to COVID19 Meg and Eliza have begun to connect further afield through virtual workshops and recurring professional development contracts. A Virtual Outdoor Play and Learning PLC would still have an outdoor component – assignments to complete before signing on to session.

Perhaps you have a crew of teachers in your district who would like to work towards Forest Days, or you are the only one interested and you’d like help finding like-minded souls to connect with periodically.

We certainly prefer to share an outdoor space with teachers, but if you’d like to be included in any virtual PLC offerings, let us know!
